Minot boy battling leukemia received room makeover through Make-A-Wish

Oliver Iverson, 5, of Minot, who has been battling leukemia since 2017, received a room makeover through Make-A-Wish North Dakota on Sunday.

Oliver, the son of Brook Harvey of Minot, wanted a special place to play with his little brother. He envisioned a new bunkbed in their room, a TV, an iPad, new bedding and a place to put all his toys. His room makeover includes a specially-made bunkbed designed like a treehouse, Avengers-themed wall decals, a 32-inch TV, and lots of other surprises. This boys’ retreat has given Oliver the space he’s dreamed of to play with his brother and his friends.

According to Make-A-Wish, a child can consider any wish of their heart’s desire. Most often wishes are to meet someone, to go somewhere, to have something or to be someone/something.

The community of Minot has hugely supported Oliver in his wish come true. In-kind donors include Future Builders, The Foundry, Sherwin Williams, Tollefson’s Carpetland, Slumberland, HigherAir Ground, Marco’s Pizza, North Hill Bowl, Splash Down Dakota Waterpark, Staybridge Suites, and Jimmy John’s. Each local in-kind donation enhances the fullness of Oliver’s wish and allows cash donations to support additional wishes come true.
