Minot police department arrests suspect in multimillion-dollar embezzlement investigation
Minot, NORTH DAKOTA – The Minot Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a large-scale embezzlement investigation involving a local company.
On May 12, 2026, the department received information from a district manager for the Minot branch of Wilbur-Ellisalleging that an employee had stolen more than $1.5 million from the company.
Investigators determined that approximately 157 fraudulent invoices had been submitted dating back to 2014 for services and deliveries that never occurred.
Authorities stated the scheme involved invoices submitted under PM Trucking, with payments allegedly directed to accounts connected to the suspect.
Detectives identified the suspect as Patrick O. McCarty, 49, of Minot. According to police, he allegedly used his position to bypass company verification processes, allowing fraudulent invoices to be processed and paid.
Investigators said payment checks were mailed to an address linked to McCarty and deposited into a local bank account connected to both his name and PM Trucking.

McCarty was arrested at approximately 12:30 p.m. at his southwest Minot residence without incident and transported to the Ward County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing.
